Q: I’ve reviewed the web site and I want to meet with someone from ZoomWorks for my wedding. How do I proceed and what can I expect?

In order to give you the ZoomWorks personal approach to wedding photography we believe it is essential for you to meet with your wedding photographer to review his/her portfolio and to ensure the compatibility of your personalities. The artist you meet with will be the person photographing your wedding. We have developed a few essential questions on our contact page for you to consider before you call. Our studio manager will use the information you give her to match you with the best suited and available photographer for your date. From there you will have the opportunity to schedule a meeting directly with that artist. If at any time you have questions our studio manager is always available to help you ( or 706.227.3777).

FYI: Once you meet with your photographer, he/she will hold your date for 72 hours. At that point, if you have not contacted your photographer, your date will go back into rotation and we cannot guarantee it will remain available.

Q: Why are there different fees for different photographers for the same package?

All ZoomWorks artists are well trained, talented professional photographers. As with most professions, experience comes with a higher price tag. Marisu and Shannah command a higher fee as owners of the company and also as more experienced artists. Andrew’s experience also dictates a higher fee. See the Meet Us section for more information on all of our artists.

Q: What is a photojournalistic style? Do you shoot that way?

Photojournalism is the use of photography to capture a story in process. Photojournalism is the type of photography you see in newspapers and news magazines, such as National Geographic. By its true definition, a photojournalistic style involves documenting the action - the photographer NEVER gets involved and only shoots what is happening.

We take the best ideas from photojournalism and apply those to wedding photography. Our sensitivity to the moments allows us to know just when to click the shutter to capture the most emotion or action. But we go beyond photojournalism and also use our artistic backgrounds. We "direct" a lot of the photographs. By giving you directions on how to move, setting a scene, or describing the emotion we want to capture, we don't leave everything to chance. The results are a collection of images that capture the action, emotion and beauty of your day.

Q: Do you also do family portraits and group shots during the wedding?

Certainly. We always plan on taking family portraits, usually right after the ceremony. We are flexible and will discuss the types of portraits you want. Our emphasis is on the less traditional photography, but we know family pictures are always important and will take the time and care to get take the pictures you want.

Q: What format of camera/type of film do you use?

We use 35mm cameras, and always have back-up equipment on-site. Almost all the major news and fashion magazines shoot their work on 35mm. With the high quality of film available today, unless you plan on making a life-size enlargement, 35mm will retain detail in all your enlargements. The equipment also provides us with the mobility needed to capture your day as it unfolds.

Q: Is there a difference in price between black and white and color films?

No, you have the option of choosing the amount of b/w or color you would like shot at the wedding. We can do all of one or the other, or a combination with any percentage breakdown you choose. We shoot a high quality, professional b/w film that can be printed on color paper or traditional b/w paper. If you choose to have everything printed on traditional b/w paper, or you would like traditional b/w film shot, there is an additional charge.

Q: What sort of deposit do you require? When is the remainder due? What forms of payment do you take?

A non-refundable 20% deposit of the total package cost is required to hold the date. The remainder of the balance is due on the day of the wedding. Currently, Zoomworks accepts money orders, personal checks and cash.

Q: How do I make reprints after I receive my wedding photos?

Visit the Color Genesis tips sheet for detailed information about reprints and enlargements. [Note: Tips sheet and order form are in PDF format, which requires the free Adobe Reader available for download and installation at the Adobe Web site.]
